Mount Kenya (5.199m) is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa. The mountain is situated on the equator. The three highest peaks, Batian (5.199 m), Nelion (5.188 m) and Lenana (4.985 m) are covered with snow. Only experienced mountaineers are able to climb to the summits of Batian and Nelion. Mountain climbers with less experience can be able to reach Lenana peak. Other sportive and adventurous travelers can walk in the areas around Mount Kenya. The different landscapes on and around the slopes of Mount Kenya are beautiful: glaciers, mountain lakes, cedar- and bamboo forests and tropical rainforest. Leopards, elephants, buffalos, zebras and various antelope species are found in the forest.
